Karina Ricks
Karina Ricks is driven to achieve just, sustainable and vital mobility that improves the quality of life and economic prosperity for all people and communities. She joined the Federal Transit Administration in September 2021 as the Associate Administrator for Research, Demonstration and Innovation. Prior to joining FTA, Karina established and directed the City of Pittsburgh’s Department of Mobility and Infrastructure where she catalyzed an ambitious integrated Mobility as a Service (MaaS) and Universal Basic Mobility (UBM) program, among other accomplishments. As Director of Transportation Planning for the District of Columbia, she was instrumental in the introduction of multiple new mobility services and revitalization of neighborhoods throughout Washington, DC. She has served as a strategic mobility consultant both nationally and internationally, with experience in land use, economic development, democracy building, and environmental preservation. Karina is an alumni of the Fulbright program and U.S. Peace Corps and holds degrees from Cornell and Michigan State University. She is the proud mother of two.
