K . Rocco Shields
Known and regarded for exploring and experimenting with new, exciting approaches to film, education and media creation, Rocco has been working in television and film for over 15 years, and is a member of the Directors Guild of America.
Rocco achieved international acclaim as the writer/producer/director of the feature film, Love is All You Need, which was based on her revolutionary, award-winning short film of the same name. Both films serve as stark, raw examinations of toxic elements in society, including bullying, prejudice, and injustice. After winning over 30 awards on the festival circuit, the powerful short film has been used by schools and organizations around the country to create conversation, generate support, and inspire change. Rocco has become an in-demand public speaker, and has developed a following as a thought-leader for her exploration of the impact media has on the individual and on society.
This vision and foresight into the changing plane of online education birthed Genius Produced, the higher education leader in creating "Bingeworthy" educational content for top tier universities, and opened Genius Produced Studios, a studio compound adjacent to Sony Pictures in Culver City - specializing in the fusion of cinema and education.
Recently, she’s launched a revolutionary online e-learning media streaming service, Genius Academy, where teachers and learners can access immersive cinematic learning experiences, targeted at fostering better education for mental health.
Rocco’s story and unique approach to filmmaking and media production has been profiled in prominent publications, including the Los Angeles Times, Authority Magazine, and the CEO Publication. Rocco is perhaps most proud of the Certificate of Merit she received from the United States Congress for her work coupling cinematic arts and social change.
