Brittany Barnett
Brittany Barnett Executive Director Buried Alive : Brittany K. Barnett is a best-selling author,
attorney and entrepreneur who thrives at the intersection of hope, justice, and freedom. She is
dedicated to transforming the criminal justice system and has won freedom for numerous
people serving fundamental death sentences for federal drug offenses – including seven clients
who received executive clemency from President Barack Obama and four clients from President
Donald Trump. Brittany is founder of several nonprofits and social enterprises, including the
Buried Alive Project, Girls Embracing Mothers, and the Manifest Freedom Fund. She has earned
many honors, including being named one of America’s most Outstanding Young Lawyers by the
American Bar Association. Brittany is also the author of A Knock at Midnight: A Story of Hope,
Justice, and Freedom, which was released to critical acclaim and selected as an NAACP Image
Award nominee and Los Angeles Times Book Prize Finalist. Her book was also chosen
by Amazon Editors’ as the #1 book of 2020.
