Rebecca Hui
Rebecca Hui is an artist and social entrepreneur who has spent a decade bringing cultural preservation to the future. She started Roots Studio, which reimagines cultural heritage by bridging into high fashion from an ethos of respect, reciprocity, and remuneration. Their partnerships have tripled artists' income from matrilineal tattoo artists in rural Bihar to vanishing mud wall paintings in Chhattisgarh. Roots Studio has been featured in The Business of Fashion VOICES 2021, Vogue Business, TeenVogue, The Cut, PBS, MIT Technology Review, Marie Claire, The Cut, the Tatler, Harper’s Bazaar, and Stanford Social Innovation Review.
Rebecca is a Cartier Women's Initiative Laureate, Echoing Green Fellow, and Forbes 30 Under 30. She previously advised governments on cultural sustainability through groups like UNESCO, The US Department of State, and the World Bank. She started her journey as a Fulbright Scholar and National Geographic Explorer studying human-animal coexistence in India.
