Sindya Bhanoo

Sindya Bhanoo is the author of Seeking Fortune Elsewhere (Catapult). Her fiction has appeared in Granta, New
England Review, Glimmer Train, and elsewhere. She is the recipient of an O. Henry Award, the Disquiet Literary
Prize and has received support from the Elizabeth George Foundation and the Bread Loaf and Sewanee
writers conferences. A longtime newspaper reporter, Sindya has worked for The New York Times and The
Washington Post. She has taught at the Michener Center for Writers at UT Austin and is currently a
visiting writer at Wichita State University.
