Olivia Newcomb

Olivia is an aspiring dramatic mezzo pursuing her undergraduate degree in vocal performance and musical theatre at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. Olivia has performed all her life and prior to her operatic studies was active in musical theatre, jazz, acapella, and choral music. Olivia’s experience learning, rehearsing, and performing over the past year has been difficult but illuminating. As a student finishing her degree, Olivia is looking forward to the industry reopening but is hoping to channel post-pandemic challenges to reinvigorate opera’s accessibility. Olivia’s goal in opera is to overcome the language and generational barriers through acting and musical expression. Opera expresses the purest form of one’s voice and she is excited to be an up and coming singer who will recreate opera to the next generation.
