Mark Ciotola

Mark’s passion is to develop a physical science of human history in order to enhance human and environmental sustainability. He is also an entrepreneur whose latest venture involves growing plants in space to benefit both space exploration and Earth agriculture. He is also working to up his game in digital media and communications. He has worked in industry at firms (Genentech, Applied Biosystems, Intuit, etc.), NASA and San Francisco State U and Monash U), and has taught hundreds of entrepreneurs and inventors. He also served as an Entrepreneur in Residence and earlier on the Space and Physical Sciences faculty at Singularity University. Sustainspace strives to make space exploration and development more sustainable, with a focus on regenerative space life support systems, as well as applying related technology and research to benefits humans on Earth. Its Orbital Genomics endeavor focuses on growing plants in space and its blog covers water recycling, air supplies, food production,
