Robin is the Co-Founder of Funomena, an independent game studio that makes experimental games for new technologies. Hunicke is also an Associate Professor in the Arts Division at UC Santa Cruz, where she is the Founder and Director of the BA in Art & Design: Games & Playable Media. Alongside her academic studies and work, she helps organize design-centric industry events such as the Experimental Gameplay workshop, which has run for 15 years at GDC. Hunicke has spent 20 years creating opportunities for innovation, diversity and inclusion in the gaming industry - from the Indie Game Jam and Global Game Jam to Amplifying New Voices and the AIAS Game Maker's Notebook podcast. Prior to founding Fumomena, Hunicke worked as the Executive Design Wrangler at Tiny Speck, Inc, now known as Slack, in addition to Thatgamecompany and Electronic Arts (EA). She received both her Bachelor’s and Master's degrees from the University of Chicago and obtained her Ph.D. from Northwestern University.
