Dr. Fay Cobb Payton is a Program Director in the Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) Directorate at the National Science Foundation. At the NSF, she works with Smart Health and Biomedical Research in the Era of Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Data Science, the CISE Minority Serving Institutions Research Expansion Program, NSF INCLUDES, Excellence-In-Research, Broadening Participation in Computing Alliances, and others. She is on assignment from North Carolina State University, where she is a Professor of Information Technology/Analytics and named University Faculty Scholar and is an American Council on Education Leadership Fellow. She has authored over 100 scholarly manuscripts, conference proceedings and book chapters. She is the author of Leveraging Intersectionality. She holds a Ph.D. in information and decision systems from Case Western Reserve University with a specialty in health care innovation, and previously worked at EY, IBM and Time Inc.
