General Manager of Design for IBM. Leading one of the largest design teams of any company in the world. 3,000 designers, 42 design execs, and dozens of design studios around the world. My team also runs the Design Thinking program which has trained and “badged” 150,000 IBM’ers and 350,000 people worldwide (IBM opened up their training for free to anyone in the pandemic). I am also the advocate for all things design and design thinking inside IBM. Earlier career includes extensive experience building and leading teams of designers, researchers, program and project managers, and content strategists to deliver customer value and business results in many industries, including high-tech, global e-commerce, energy, health care, and the non-profit world. As a design leader, my job is to humanize technology. As an org leader, my job is to humanize the workplace. These challenges are surprisingly similar, and throughout my ~20 years in UX design, I have embraced them both.
