Anosha Zanjani
Anosha Zanjani is a behavioral health architectural designer, strategist, and researcher with a passion for regenerative design. She has had a focused career in behavioral health and environmental psychology having worked in psychiatric facilities, academic institutions, research, and private practice prior to architecture. This is where she conducted clinical research, worked directly with patients suffering from severe mental health disorders as well as led studies regarding environmental psychology. After many years in the field, she became interested in the significant impact that spaces had on psychiatric patients. This stemmed from witnessing firsthand the negative impacts that poor facility design, stigma, lack of access and social inequalities had on patient mental, especially in disadvantaged communities. She turned that interest into a passion for building regenerative spaces that would positively impact the treatment and recovery of individuals facing mental health issues as well as addressing community resilience and promoting social equity in mental health access. Based out of Los Angeles, Anosha is part of HDR’s Behavioral Health Studio and works on projects spanning the continuum of care nationally and internationally. She is an experienced speaker and writer having lectured at international conferences and published in some of the world’s top peer-review journals. Anosha holds a BSc in Neuroscience and Mental Health from the University of Toronto and a Master of Architecture and Master of Science in Real Estate Development from Columbia University in New York.
