Michele Mueller

Michele began her career at MDOT in 1995. She is an advocate for the safety and economic benefits provided by connected and automated vehicle technologies. With over 15 years of experience in leading Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) projects in the Southeast Michigan area, Michele works closely with varying mobility stakeholders spanning non-profit, corporations, government, and academia. Part of Michele’s work includes fostering these partnerships into real-world deployments. She has managed over 20 projects, and collaborates directly with companies like 3M, Continental, and Ford. Michele oversaw the construction and integration of the new Southeast Michigan Transportation Operations Center, including the overhaul of the regional communications network and the current ITS infrastructure. Michele also serves as an advisor on the Women in Transportation board and as board chair for both the Square One Education Network and Michigan Outlaws Fastpitch Board.
