70M Excluded: The Justice Impacted Workforce
1 in 3 Americans have a criminal or arrest record. This frequently creates insurmountable barriers to employment, education, and other services. Furthermore, due to the disproportionate impact the justice system has on people of color and other disadvantaged groups, these barriers present a major obstacle to equity in America. This comes at a time when demand for workers is exploding as the economy rebounds post-pandemic, and there is a growing need for all stakeholders to help build a fairer and more equal society. But how can companies help maximize the potential of this vast, diverse, and underutilized talent pool? How can lawmakers help get deserving individuals back to work – where they are more needed than ever - while creating a more inclusive economy?
