What We Leave Behind, directed and produced by Iliana Sosa, is screening as part of the SXSW Film Festival: https://schedule.sxsw.com/2022/films/2053837

We all want diversity in the media industry pipeline. For underrepresented groups (BIPOC, rural, poor), college can be one path to breaking into a historically White, male industry. But are we adequately serving these students if we continue teaching them the status quo? Three activist-professors share their approaches to empowering BIPOC voices and stories in creative classrooms, which can serve as the critical point of access into the film industry for emerging artists. Today's inclusion strategies will shape tomorrow's directors, technicians, and executives, and in turn have power to shift industry-wide expectations and practices.
