Rivers Move Cities

Many urban rivers have been polluted, buried or dammed. Cities no longer look at rivers at all. Today, the future of rivers is more promising.
The world’s main rivers are being restored to cities. Success stories, such as the Copenhagen Harbor and Seine River, inspire cities like São Paulo. The depollution of the Pinheiros River, a waterway that crosses the world’s fourth largest city, is based on innovative solutions with great social impact.
Improved health, income and empowerment of communities, especially of women, is palpable. In addition, these outdoor spaces have become essential for people to coexist in harmony. The initiative has been attracting partnerships with several brands interested in the Park and bike lanes off the River banks, moving São Paulo to a whole new level.
