Creating Hospital Data Transparency During COVID
This session will bring together the civil servants and data journalists who were responsible for communicating with the public about the rate of COVID-19 in hospitals.
The US government built and staffed a massive and unprecedented reporting infrastructure, in cooperation with state health agencies, the CDC and HHS, in order to get a day-by-day picture of how every hospital in the country was handling covid at the height of the crisis.
We will discuss lessons learned, and discuss a new playbook for open data at the highest levels of government(s), that is designed to withstand the ongoing stress of a major crisis and to improve data availability under the crushing boredom of normalcy.
Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
