Thumbs Up With Edge Computing Using Elixir

Date TBA

Students will use the Elixir/Erlang functional programming language and the Nerves framework to develop and deploy code on Rasberry Pis
that can log thumbs up/down events to a centralized live display. The scenario is designed to simulate an edge computing/IoT environment in a live concert venue where concert goers can provide feedback directly to a sensor and not have to get out their smartphone. No prior familiarity with Elixir/Erlang, functional programming, or Rasberry Pi development are required. This workshop is for experienced developers who are comfortable pushing their comfort zone as a means of learning a ton of really cool new concepts in a very short period of time.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
