Vanguards of the Black Comics Revolution

Date TBA

This panel will discuss the current revolution in black comic books, graphic novels, and transmedia storytelling where a new generation of diverse creators (writers, artists, editors, comic shop owners, and festival producers) are breaking industry color barriers and building intergenerational and global fandoms. Beyond diversifying the scripts and expanding the range of identities centered in comic book narratives, these creators are advancing vital social discourses and changing the face of comic book culture. In tandem with indie publishers, comic shop owners, festival producers, and media makers of color, the black comics revolution is delivering content on multiple platforms and building a national network of comic fans in communities of color.
