When the WNBA embarked on its 2020 season, the United States was in the throes of significant social upheaval — perhaps the most consequential election year since the Civil War, a global pandemic, the police killings of Breonna Taylor and George Floyd.
At the center of the swirl was a WNBA owner, who happened to be a United States Senator running to hold onto the seat that would determine control of the Senate — and who inspired one of the most meaningful feats of athlete activism in modern American history.

In this panel hosted by TOGETHXR, Sue Bird & Nneka Ogwumike retell the incredible and unlikely true story of how a group of professional women basketball players took on a WNBA team owner & US Senator. And, in the process, helped change the course of American democracy.
