Envisioning a More Ethical Big Tech

Date TBA

In a world where Big Tech has control over our personal lives and our democracy, voices across the political spectrum are clamoring for reform. Big Tech claims it can regulate itself and that interference stifles innovation. Critics think Big Tech can't be trusted to make ethical decisions. When technology clashes with our ethics, how can we respond as consumers and members of a technological society? In this discussion, a Big Tech insider and a philosophy professor come together to discuss a path forward. Former Google engineer and Stanford Professor of Computer Science Mehran Sahami will be in conversation with Stanford Professor of Philosophy and Political Science Rob Reich. Both are authors of an upcoming book entitled "System Error: Where Big Tech Went Wrong and How We Can Reboot."
