This session offers an exploration of advancements in Generative Atmospheric (GA) music. GA music responds in real-time to detected changes in its surroundings: a total convergence of tech, music and other media such as games and film. Beginning with an explanation of the role that music plays in film and video games, and how transitions are handled, the talk will also explore cutting-edge research on the subject of real-time generative music responding to games. In terms of tech, this session will explore the role of natural language processing, sentiment analysis and generative media, and, as a proof of concept, will have a generative backing track itself! If you’ve ever wanted to see what happens when a neural network tries to improvise music, this session should make you very excited!
