How do we measure the impact of 'music cities' or 'music ecosystem' policies? How can we prove that they make a difference? What does success look like? Given it has been nearly a decade since cities and places began to explore how music impacts urban planning, policy and regulation, what changes have we seen in regards to how cities and places - no matter their size - invest in music and how it has, or has not, supported equity, diversity, sustainability and other metrics? This panel will explore what's worked and what hasn't in different contexts - urban and rural, large and small - in an effort to define an approach to measuring music's role in cities and places, across economic, social and cultural indicators.
