Featured Session: Making Virtual Storytelling and Activism Personal

Humans have always used stories to share wisdom and information in an engaging way. Neuroscience shows that storytelling can affect brain chemistry, moving us to be more empathetic, generous— and eager to take action.

Have you ever had a face-to-face conversation with a woman who had an abortion? The virtual reality experience The Choice uses personal storytelling and volumetric VR filmmaking to offer a new perspective on reproductive rights, with the aim of inspiring real-world impact.

In this conversation, film director Joanne Popinska, Ph.D. is joined by Texas State Rep. Donna Howard, activist Aimee Arrambide (AVOW), and Kristen Herring the subject of The Choice to discuss how intimate, personal storytelling can influence cultural and policy change.
