Over the past two years, the investment sector has made bold commitments to sustaining and revitalizing local communities through strategic investments that support racial, social and environmental justice. Deploying capital through business models, products, and institutions that support economic growth in historically marginalized communities can lead to positive growth for not only communities, but the local and national economy. This will, however, have to include shifting capital away from carceral systems and instead, investing in community oriented solutions. This session explores how investors can contribute to positive societal change through alternative investment opportunities, beyond divesting, such as community-led public health, safety, and reparative infrastructure.
