Black in Web3: Now and the Future

Mar 12, 2022

2:30pm – 3:30pm CT

While Black culture historically plays a pivotal role in defining mainstream and sub-cultures, Black creators still make significantly less pay than their white counterparts. With the pandemic only widening the income disparities, the democratization of global economics through Web3 and cryptocurrencies have presented a new model and opportunity for closing the economic gap while disrupting centuries-long patterns of oppression. Attendees will learn about the ecosystem surrounding creator compensation, how content creators are finding new ways to monetize their intellectual property through blockchain technology, and what brands and companies are doing to improve the immediate and future impact within the community. Panelists will discuss what it means to revolutionize the way that structural financial gaps are closed and how decentralized currency could be a new financial victory for the Black community.
