Featured Session: Creating in a Shit Storm
The truth is I love the internet, but also it’s really fucked. There are more platforms than it’s possible to keep track of, each has different formats, and some recommend uploading 3 videos per day (WTF). No matter how much work we put in, creators aren’t making enough “content.” Even just reaching the audience you’ve already built has never been more challenging. Connectivity has replaced connection. People, en masse, feel an absence of meaning and truth. This swirling shit storm is creating waves of burned out creators, many of them wondering whether it’s even worth the struggle. In this talk, Jack Conte (that’s me!), CEO of Patreon and co-creator of the bands Pomplamoose and Scary Pockets, discusses how to reach people, creating in the modern world, and staying inspired during the end of times. Come to my talk for a jolt of self-belief, actionable takeaways to fuel your creativity and reach, and to be more deeply connected to your audience and art!
