The Capitol

Date TBA

Out of Austin, Texas, The Capitol leads the funk back into the popular music landscape. The Capitol sound is a mix of old and new; a rebirth of the glory age of the funk of the 1970s when large ensembles like Earth, Wind, & Fire, and Tower of Power dominated the nation's airwaves.

In January 2020, the band’s long awaited debut single “Vaporize” landed on all major streaming platforms. The success of “Vaporize” led The Capitol to be accepted as an official performer for the 2020 South By Southwest (SXSW) music festival before the fest was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fresh off the release of their third single “Summer Rain,” in October, 2021 The Capitol can be seen performing their music on live in the Season 6 finale of the popular Netflix original program “Queer Eye.” Throughout the bands career they have enjoyed collaborating and performing with notable artists and music professionals including Emmy award winning audio engineer Matt Parmenter, The Nightowls, Tomar & The FC’s, James Robinson, and LA guitarist Angela Petrilli.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
