TONE at Sellers Underground
TONE’s music is simultaneously an enjoyment and cathartic process, invoking honesty and acute emotion. His most profound collaboration to date, with powerful vocalist Farai, sees him “channel Joy Divisions’s youthful rage… imposing chords and roughly hewn drums” (Pitchfork). Contrastingly, his solo work comfortably delves into left-field, electronic pop, with hints of hip-hop and post-punk, and draws on inspiration from films and documentaries such as Babylon, Rockers and Wim Wenders’s ‘Tokyo-Ga’ and ‘Notebook On Cities And Clothes’ in compositions. TONE's debut album 'So I Can See You' is set for release on March 4th 2022 via Rhythm Section International. Created during the pregnancy and subsequent birth of his daughter. Compelled to capture this significant moment, recording mostly at night, the album is less a departure of who he was but an embrace of the future. TONE’s distinctive vocals are complemented by the familiar voices of Coby Sey on “So I Can See You”, Fran Lobo on “From the North” and Roxanne Tataei on “Make It Drop”.
