Mt.Borracho

Mt.Borracho is the audio-visual project of Zachary Smith and Cameron Day founded in 2013. Since forming Mt.Borracho has released material surrounding personal surrealism, paranormal and abstract sound design. The act has appeared multiple times on the Radio Dada Chicago Whpk 88.5 with an improvisional style involving textures, drone and dark sounds. Mt.Borracho’s albums are recorded as installations - not for traditional listening. As a result, performances are cathartic. The act has also become a staple in the underground outsider Techno scene. Having appeared on the Netherland’s based Operator Radio (Rotterdam) , NY’s lot radio & Bristol’s NOODS network during COVID19. Mt.Borracho is characterized as “Dark zones unfurl to reveal eldritch industrial & slow psyched-out dancefloor hitters” by Rush Faulkner. They recorded a broadcast at Red Light Radio Amsterdam and abstract set at Asile404 Marsaille, France . Prior to SXSW, Mt.Borracho was featured in the September 2020 Wire UK magazine. They continue to create abstract music for subterranean spaces and fine art settings. Sonically inspiration derives from experiences at Berghain and Tangent Gallery (Detroit) in late summer 2017.
