Flyjack
Flyjack was conceived in 2007 by longtime musical partners Buck McKinney (guitar) and Brad Bradburn (bass) during a weekly residency at holdover chitlin’ circuit nightclub TC’s Lounge in deep east Austin, Texas. Quickly developing a reputation as the “Mothers of rare groove, funk and soul,” Flyjack’s mission was simple and heartfelt––to revive forgotten tracks by obscure musical groups whose performances were sampled repeatedly during the early hip-hop era, but whose names were unknown to all but the most die-hard crate-diggers. Over the course of the next several years, the band released 3 albums, and collaborated with an impressive roster of musicians, including Jab’o Starks from James Brown’s JB’s, Italian keyboard phenom Paolo “Apollo” Negri, and Austin, Texas chanteuse Tameca Jones.
