Maya Dusenbery is a journalist, editor, and author of the book Doing Harm: The Truth About How Bad Medicine and Lazy Science Leave Women Dismissed, Misdiagnosed, and Sick. Maya has written for outlets including the New York Times Magazine, Scientific American, Consumer Reports, Slate, Cosmopolitan.com, HuffPost, and Teen Vogue, and contributed to the anthology The Feminist Utopia Project. She was previously the editorial director of the trailblazing site Feministing, where she covered a range of feminist topics—including abortion stigma, rape culture, masculinity, and pop culture—since 2009. She has also been a fellow at Mother Jones and a columnist at Pacific Standard. Before becoming a full-time writer, Maya worked at the National Institute for Reproductive Health. She received her B.A. from Carleton College in 2008. A Minnesota native, she is currently based in Portland, Oregon.
