Born in Hawaii and raised in New Jersey to an African American working mother & father who made up 1/5 of hip-hop group Double XX Posse, Sharaya J grew up in a household where rap battles and studio sessions were routine. Her career began as a choreographer whose work caught the attention of Diddy, Ciara, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, The-Dream & Rihanna, and earned her cameos on music videos for Alicia Keys' "Teenage Love Affair" and The-Dream's "Shawty Is a 10". Known for her high-fashion look and versatility, Sharaya J joined forces with Alexander Wang starring in his “T by Alexander Wang” campaign and becoming a brand ambassador for his line. She even caught the eye of Wilhelmina Models and was signed to their celebrity board. Sharaya J gained popularity on FOX Network’s hit show The Four, starring judges Sean "Diddy" Combs, Meghan Trainor, & DJ Khaled. She holds the record as the longest seat-holder, rap battling week after week while battling Stage 2 breast cancer. A true survivor, Sharaya J is known for her singles "BANJI" and "Smash Up the Place," and for being signed to Missy Elliott's label The Goldmind Inc. where she studied and worked as her protégé. She set the dance world ablaze with her debut single "BANJI” and released two more singles; "Takin' It No More" and "Shut It Down". Today she runs her own company BANJI Entertainment, first releasing the single “BIG” which reintroduced her fans to a more evolved lyricist and an established brand. Sharaya J’s blazing a trail and encouraging all to Be Authentic and Never Jeopardize their Individuality (B.A.N.J.I), the namesake of her company. Her personal journey provides the distinct perspective of a successful creator who wears many hats.
