Elizabeth Banks is a three-time Emmy nominated actress, producer, writer, and director. With stand-out performances in projects including The Hunger Games franchise, Love & Mercy, and The LEGO Movie, she is also a three-time Emmy nominee for her recurring roles in 30 Rock and Modern Family.

Banks will soon begin production on the women’s rights drama Call Jane which follows a 1950s housewife (Banks) as she deals with an unplanned pregnancy. She can currently be seen starring in the Emmy-nominated Limited Series Mrs. America as Jill Ruckelshaus, streaming on FX on Hulu. Also streaming on Hulu is the critically-acclaimed comedy Shrill, starring SNL’s Aidy Bryant, which recently wrapped it’s third and final season. Banks produced through her company Brownstone Productions which she co-founded with husband Max Handelman.. In 2019 she wrote, directed, appeared in, and produced Charlie’s Angels, also under the Brownstone banner. The company is best known for the Boxoffice hit Pitch Perfect franchise. She made her feature directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2 which was the highest opening weekend for a musical comedy in history, the biggest opener for a first-time feature film director, and the second-largest opening for a female director. With an exclusive television deal at Warner Bros. Television and first look film deal at Universal, Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions’ slate currently includes multiple film, television and digital collaborations across various networks and studios including Universal, Sony Pictures, ABC, Lionsgate, FOX, HBO Max, Netflix, and Hulu. Their current film slate includes INVISIBLE WOMAN, THE GRACE YEAR, SCIENCE FAIR, THE PAPERPAG PRINCESS, UNCANNY VALLEY, and THE MAGIC SCHOOL BUS® at Universal Pictures; LET’S GO CRAZY at Paramount Players, and MISS CONCEPTION at Sony Screen Gems. On the television side, Brownstone’s slate includes Season 3 of the critically acclaimed series SHRILL at Hulu; DC SUPER HERO PREP and OVER MY DEAD BODY: TALLY at HBO Max; FOXY and BEDROCK, an animated comedy series based off the Flintstones at FOX; and SALTY B*TCHES at Freeform.

Bank’s additional film credits include W which garnered her critical-acclaim for her role as ‘First Lady Laura Bush;’ her breakthrough role as ‘Marcela Howard’ in the Academy Award winning film Seabiscuit; Steven Spielberg’s Catch Me If You Can; Power Rangers, Magic Mike XXL, Zack and Miri Make a Porno, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, and Spider-Man amongst others. Additional television credits include Scrubs, Netflix’s Wet, How American Summer: First Day of Camp, and 10 Years Later.

Originally from Massachusetts, Banks graduated magna cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania and received her Graduate Degree at the American Conservatory Theater. She is heavily involved with the Center for Reproductive Rights, Planned Parenthood, and Turnaround Arts, among others.
