Witch Prophet - 'Tesfay'
"Tesfay" tells the story of Witch Prophet’s late grandfather who raised five daughters as a single father in Ethiopia. Instead of focussing on the traditional roles for women in his day, he pushed his daughters towards education and empowerment, a radical move for the time. "Tesfay" blends narrative, dance, and documentary to tell a broader story about positive father-daughter relationships that are grossly underrepresented in media. Choreographed and performed by artist, Josh Taylor, and dancer, Olivia Ruth Power, "Tesfay" is a love letter to a grandfather passed and the multi-generational impact of female empowerment.
