Finding Fuel and Support In the First Shecession
A global pandemic, major economic recession, environmental disasters - we can all agree that the last year has been hard on everyone. However, one often overlooked group has been particularly affected: working women and especially working women of color. For the first time in recession history, women are more impacted than men with women having lost over 5 million net jobs since February 2020, sparking the world’s first Shecession. To recover, we must put the onus on the systematic issues that have brought us here and ensure women, regardless of background, are receiving the tools and resources they need to bounce back and accelerate ten years of employment gains lost. This panel will dive into the real issues that impact women in the workplace and offer solutions to these systematic problems, highlighting tangible solutions like mentorship, networks and funding to reimagine a new path forward.
