Kevin McGinnis

Kevin McGinnis is Chief Executive Officer of the Keystone Community Corporation, a nonprofit organization leading a bi-state regional effort to develop an innovation community in Kansas City, MO. Built on the key tenets of programming, placemaking, community development, urban revitalization and inclusive prosperity, the Keystone Innovation District will serve as a catalyst for economic growth in the Midwest. Keystone will be focused on using the region’s history and strengths in design as the unifying idea across programming, partnerships and initiatives. Whether it’s designing smarter cities, building better products, shaping the future of work, or any other challenge the community commits to attack, Keystone aims to advance the regional goals of shared prosperity, and accelerate economic opportunities for all in the KC-area.

Prior to taking on a long-term ecosystem building initiative like Keystone, Kevin served as the Chief Executive Officer of Pinsight Media, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sprint. Recognizing the challenges of creating a data business inside of the technology giant, Kevin oversaw the acquisition of a local startup, merging of the new product into the newly-acquired entity and building one of the fastest-growing data companies in the country. Pinsight Media was at the forefront of leveraging mobile data to enable better business decisions across multiple industry segments. He led the venture until it was sold in late 2017. He was also founder and managing executive of the Sprint Accelerator, a corporate accelerator and entrepreneurial center located in Kansas City’s Crossroads District.

In his 20-year career at Sprint, Kevin has performed in a multitude of functions at various stages of new and emerging businesses – ranging from telemarketing and retail sales, customer care, operations, business development and marketing. His last role prior to leading the spin out of Pinsight Media was as Vice President of Product where he oversaw all of Sprint’s product platforms and operations. This range of experience has established Kevin as a thought leader in the both the communications and digital industries.

Kevin holds a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from the University of Kansas and went on to earn professional certificates in Executive Leadership from Duke University and Innovation & Entrepreneurship from Stanford University in their graduate studies program. He lives in Overland Park, Kansas and is the father of three amazing daughters.
