Dr. Anthony J. Annunziata is the IBM executive responsible for the creation, growth and success of IBM’s worldwide quantum computing business. In this role, he leads the IBM Q Network, a worldwide collaboration of industry, government, startup, and academic organizations using IBM’s cloud quantum computing systems and driving applied research, with the goal of launching the first practical applications of quantum computing by the middle of this decade. Anthony leads a diverse team of scientists, engineers, and business professionals from across the IBM company supporting the IBM Q Network and is responsible for its business and technical success. Prior to this, Anthony has held a number technical and management roles at IBM, including leading a team developing and commercializing magnetoresistive random access memory, now used by Samsung. A physicist by training, Anthony received his Ph.D. in Applied Physics from Yale University, focusing on superconductivity and nanofabrication. Anthony holds 89 patents and is an IBM Master Inventor, identified as one of IBM’s top inventors and contributors to its intellectual property.
