Laurel Stearns
Before venturing off on her own Laurel Stearns for a year and a half, built a small roster at Prospect Park(The Firm) with Red Fang, White Denim , Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jenny O. and Father John Misty as well as day to day for Danzig, spent 8 years at Capitol Records, 3 years at Red Light Management office and 6 years as an independent manager. currently she has partnered with Primary Wave Music and Mano Walker (roster includes: Red Fang(Relapse/Orchard), U.S. Girls (4AD) , Moaning (SubPop) ,Johnathan Rice, The Album Leaf (SubPop), Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith(Ghostly Int) and together they are fast becoming a hub of creativity with all the resources at hand on the management side and Primary Wave’s huge publishing catalog with BMG. Last year and this year Laurel was a talent buyer and some producing for the Adult Swim Fesitval in DTLA (28k people attended) During the time at Prospect Park Laurel music supervised the documentary released by Johnny Knoxville’s company , Dick House/MTV,”The Wild and Wonderful Whites Of West Virginia” and worked on music placement on Prospect Park’s series for FX,” Wilfred”. During her tenure at Capitol Records, Laurel brought in bands such as: Interpol, The Decemberists, Shout Out Louds, Fischerspooner, Sparklehorse and LCD Soundsystem. While working at Capitol Laurel realized there were many bands that she was passionate about that belonged no where near a major label. With two partners, launched Cold Sweat Records/Caroline. From that label , Wives/No Age, Battles, Devendra Banhart , Health , reissue of Yahowha 13 (The Source Family’s band) and many others were discovered and released.
