Samantha Shear is the VP of Development at Emmy-winning global entertainment company Zoic Studios. She joined the company in 2018 to launch their new content division, quickly establishing the company as a player to watch in the development space across family and genre content. With a sharp eye for dynamic voices and strong thematic works, she is passionate about developing stories with rich characters rooted in timely cultural relevance. Through Zoic’s newly-established development fund and her extensive network of creative and production talent, Shear has optioned nearly a dozen projects for film and television and commissioned several scripts. Projects currently in progress include a feature adaptation of Christopher Golden’s haunting novel Snowblind, a lovely coming-of-age feature adaptation of a novel for Disney Channel, as well as a feature adaptation of a YA novel for Amazon.
A graduate of USC’s prestigious Peter Stark Producing MFA program, Shear has established herself as a visionary executive and producer in the world of IP adaptation. Shear is currently attached as a producer on the feature adaptation of the graphic novel Blacksmith, at AGC Studios with Pierre Morel to direct, and the Katherine Applegate novel Crenshaw, at Fox Studios with James Mangold to direct.
