Pete Carrato is a Fellow Emeritus of the Bechtel Corporation. He received his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Civil Engineering from Bucknell University, and a Doctorate from Duke University where he majored in Civil Engineering and minored in Mathematics. Dr. Carrato is a registered Professional Engineer in the commonwealth of Virginia, a licensed Structural Engineer in the state of Illinois, and a Chartered Engineer in the United Kingdom. He is a Fellow of both the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Institution of Civil Engineers in England.
Pete is actively engaged in the application of technology to engineering and construction industry. He was the head judge for the four-year long NASA Mars Habitat Centennial Challenge.
