Philip Castro
Phil joined Snap in January, 2015, as its third attorney, to support the launch of its Discover platform. He currently leads Snap’s Content and Music legal vertical, which is responsible for structuring, negotiating, and drafting all of Snap’s commercial deals for its Publishers Stories, Curated Stories, Shows, and music initiatives. In this role, Phil and his team have been responsible for first-of-kind mobile content agreements with networks and studios, news providers, sports leagues and governing bodies, and music rights holders. Prior to joining Snap, Phil worked in Cooley LLP’s Digital Media & Entertainment and Corporate practice groups, focusing on mergers & acquisitions and venture financing transactions for clients such as Qualcomm, Dollar Shave Club, and Collective Digital Studio. Phil started his legal career as part of WME’s Business Affairs group, where he focused on digital media transactions with platform distributors, music touring, and getting coffee. He currently holds a J.D. from the University of Southern California, Gould School of Law, where he was a recipient of the Shattuck Award, and a B.S. degree in International Relations from Tufts University.
