Laryssa Patten is the Portfolio Manager for Space and Alliance Ground Surveillance (AGS) UAV
projects in the Joint Intelligence and Surveillance Service Line at the NATO Communications and
Information Agency. Patten has over 20 years of experience in the space industry. She has worked on Satellite Operations, International Space Station Operations and she has supported the European Commission on Space Policy and the Galileo Programme strategy.
Patten has been working on enhancing space support to NATO operations since 2012. This includes supporting the NATO Bi-Strategic Command Space Working Group. Her achievements include:
- Supporting the development of the Space Policy
- Authoring key NATO analyses: NATO’s Dependencies on Space, Evaluation of the Operational
Mitigation Measures for NATO’s Dependencies on Space, and Survey of National Space Assets
and Capabilities
- Integrating space aspects into NATO Trials and Exercises
- Primary lecturer at the NATO Defense College on ‘Space and its Significance to Defense and
Security’
