Matt King
Matt King is the Chief Executive Officer of FanDuel Group, an innovative sports-
tech entertainment company that is changing the way consumers engage with
their favorite sports, teams, and leagues. FanDuel Group consists of a portfolio of
leading brands across gaming, sports betting, daily fantasy sports, advance-
deposit wagering, and television. The brands include FanDuel, Betfair, DRAFT,
and TVG.
Matt served as CEO of FanDuel and spearheaded the merger of FanDuel with
the US businesses of Paddy Power Betfair to create the FanDuel Group. Matt
saw the opportunity to create the largest online gaming platform in the US and
brought together the leader in international sports betting and gaming with the
company that redefined fantasy sports.
Before becoming FanDuel’s CEO, Matt served as Chief Financial Officer of
FanDuel from 2014-2016. During that time, he led FanDuel’s Series E funding
round of $230 million, while being responsible for all of the company’s financial
operations, financing, and corporate strategy. Matt briefly left FanDuel in 2016
and served as the President of Regional Operations at Cottingham & Butler
before returning to FanDuel as CEO in 2017.
Prior to joining FanDuel in 2014, Matt was a Director at Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts
and Co and KKR Capstone. At KKR, Matt focused on building new lines of
business for KKR, due diligence on new investments, and improving the
operating performance of KKR’s portfolio companies. He was also responsible
for driving operational improvements and turnarounds at KKR’s portfolio
companies including Accellent, First Data Corporation, Sealy, and Visant, built
KKR’s BDC lending platform, and led KKR’s acquisition of Prisma Capital
Partners and Avoca Capital Management. Before joining KKR, Matt was as a
Consultant at McKinsey & Company, where he served clients in a broad range of
industries from insurance to petroleum.
Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and Economics,
summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from North Carolina State University. He
currently serves on the Poole College of Management Board of Advisers.
