Takuya Hane

Takuya taught Japanese language at three U.S. universities, including Harvard, at which time he studied US teaching methods. He was highly regarded and received the “Certificate of Distinction in Teaching” from Harvard. In 1997, he founded Active Learning Inc. (AL) in Tokyo and has taught all over Japan the AL style in which requires learners to create answers as opposed the Japanese system of memorization. In 2014 the Ministry of Education decided to transform Japanese education into the AL style. As a key player, Wikipedia describes him as a pioneer of AL in Japan. Since its foundation, he has provided support not only to academic institutions but also to companies and public institutions, in the form of development of human resources at leading Japanese companies such as Sony and Panasonic. Takuya has produced many cross-border projects; AL’s influence extends beyond Japan to include Asia, Africa and the Middle East. In Japan, his many activities are featured in famous TV programs.
