Riya Karumanchi

Riya Karumanchi is a 16-year-old entrepreneur and CEO of SmartCane who is extremely passionate about harnessing technology to better people’s lives and solve some of the world’s most important problems. She is an Innovator at The Knowledge Society, an avid ML & IoT developer & has built many projects like machine learning models to classify between malignant and benign tumours in mammograms. Riya was recently recognized as one of the Top Teen Entrepreneurs Worldwide from Entrepreneur Magazine and as Teen Vogue’s 21 Under 21 and is supported by companies like Google, Microsoft, the DMZ and TD Bank. This summer, she interned at Deloitte Digital and worked with a team to create a product in gerontology that can impact nearly a third of the Canadian population. She has been speaking at conferences worldwide, including WE Day, the MoveTheDial Summit and Pharma Blockchain UK. Riya is also an advocate for women in STEM, often giving talks to inspire them to pursue careers in innovation.
