Melissa DiLoreto is the Head of Communications for DataKind, a global nonprofit dedicated to using data science and AI in the service of humanity. Melissa comes to DataKind with more than a decade of experience in communications and marketing with a particular focus in technology and nonprofits and a passion for social good. With broadcast journalism at her roots and thought leadership at her core, she's developed influential media relations and social media plans and established senior executives as visionaries in their field. In addition to overseeing a number of successful campaigns and activations, and leading countless media training and public speaking exercises, she's also spearheaded crisis communications initiatives as well as branding strategies, website design, and content development. Prior to DataKind, Melissa was the Managing Director of Elle Communications, a bicoastal social impact PR agency, where she collaborated with nonprofits, social enterprises, CSR teams, ethical brands, and political activists and leaders, all working to make the world a better place.
