Michael (Mikey) Sherman is a born x raised New Yorker. Perhaps interested in music and technology before they were often found in the same sentence. Michael would stream live shows from CBGBs every Sunday on his iMac and 56k modem; that is, of course, until he was old enough to get through the front doors (16+)! The rest is history; you can now find Michael living somewhere in between backstage and technology back-ends. As such, a deep commitment to marrying music, artist rights and technology has been paramount throughout his professional career. Having spent formative years as a publicist, tour manager and later full-blown artist manager, Michael understands that there is no hurdle, too big or small, that cannot be cleared with strategy and planning. With continued time spent in artist management and the digital landscape shifting, Michael threw himself in to the world of music technology and built out a Direct-to-Fan business for one of his previous employers – spearheading campaigns with the likes of TV on The Radio, Michael Kiwanuka, The Kooks, Lissie and many more. Clear at the core of these efforts were the importance of e-commerce and the ever-growing experiential economy. Michael dove head first in to these high volume/high-value pursuits in his next job and was instrumental in building out the music business for Eventbrite; the world’s largest independent ticketing company. With rampant consolidation across both music and technology, Michael remains committed to the importance of independence and believes technology to be the vehicle to both bolster and behoove artists and stakeholders alike.
