Kris Hansen
Kris Hansen is “a recovering banking chief architect.” His recovery includes advising
banks, insurance companies and financial services startups. He began his career as a
system administrator and software developer, started one of the first internet provider
companies in Canada and built a successful software services company in Hawaii. He
is the former chief architect at ATB Financial and former head of solution architecture at
the Royal Bank of Canada. Kris co-developed a patent around contactless digital
payments and biometric identity. He has been involved in cryptocurrency and
blockchain software development. Kris worked with SAP as a Senior Principal in
Financial Services; he helped establish new blockchain use cases and solutions within
the financial services industry. He is CTO at Portag3 Ventures, a fintech-focused
venture capital fund that invests in enabling entrepreneurs and innovation. He is also
CTO at Koho, a Canadian neobank and a key Portag3 investment.
