Nora Ayanian is Assistant Professor of Computer Science and director of the Automatic Coordination of Teams Lab at the University of Southern California. Prior to joining USC, she received her PhD at the University of Pennsylvania and was a postdoc at MIT. Ayanian studies and develops end-to-end solutions for coordinating teams of robots, combining automation and AI to create autonomous collaboration and control. These solutions take high level specifications, such as multi-touch input from a tablet, and provide automated code delivery to all robots in a team. Her solutions are broadly applicable across multi-robot systems, including manufacturing, warehousing, environmental monitoring, and emergency response. Ayanian was named one of MIT Technology Review’s Innovators Under 35 as “Visionary” and IEEE Intelligent Systems “AI’s 10 to Watch.” She is the recipient of a NSF CAREER award, and outstanding paper in robotics at the International Conference on Automated Planning and Scheduling.
