Marvin Slepian
Dr. Marvin “Marv” J. Slepian, in parallel with his clinical career, has an extensive research and translational career leading to the development of innovative diagnostics and therapeutics for cardiovascular diseases. He has focused on the development and use of novel biomaterials for tissue engineering, drug delivery and medical devices. His lab’s work has come into clinical use such as: drug-eluting stent tech, stent coatings, “polymer paving,” surgical anti-adhesive barriers, stretchable and biodegradable electronics, “wearables,” synthetic tissue sealants, myocardial revascularization & cell delivery methods and cardiovascular prosthetic – including the only FDA approved total artificial heart.
Dr. Slepian is author/coauthor of over 250 articles, textbook chapters and abstracts, published in journals such as Science, Nature Materials, PNAS, PlosOne, Circulation, the New England Journal of Medicine, and Cardiovascular Pathology, and serves on several editorial review boards.
